Day After Day (DAD) is a solo exhibition exploring early motherhood, endurance, overstimulation, identity and becoming. Made across the first eighteen months of my daughter’s life, the work documents a period of profound change, physically, emotionally and creatively. The exhibition moves through four distinct “seasons”, each reflecting a different part of that experience, from the relentless noise of early motherhood to the gradual return of self and a more considered way of painting. The exhibition is dedicated to my dad, Mark Howell, and opens ten years after we lost him, bringing an extra layer of meaning to the show.
