An original painting from the hike up harp hill collection.

Around the corner from London fields and just off Columbia road. The gaudy colours of the flowers and the hollers of the vendors. One November Sunday I got dressed up in a turquoise taffeta 1950s dress I’d made to host a thanksgiving feast for friends in our flat. I put the turkey in the oven and then marched out to the market as it was closing at noon in high heels and a petticoat feeling like a 1950s domestic goddess. I came home with armfuls of flowers for a few pounds as it was the end of the day and filled the flat with flowers. We squeezed ten people around the table for thanksgiving dinner including Mississippi ice cream pie for dessert. A magical day of autumn crispness in the air, Turquoise blue taffeta and the luminous flowers in their printed papers..”
