An original painting from the hike up harp hill collection.

Massively windy and grey rain, with the bright white of the cliffs contrasted against the battered sea, which seems to always be relentlessly grey. I always feel like there is so much and yet little hope in this area: the migration, the barriers, the battlements, little boats, the old tired boarding houses and the ferries. Green flat cliff tops with white sheer drops. So little to stop you from walking off the edge and straight into France.

Acrylic, soft pastel and pencil on paper, 5″ x 6″, 2021.
