“I like to think about the geography in terms of music: in the East there’s the mountains, bluegrass, bright green hills and lots of winding roads. Then you get to the middle, which is all country music, acoustics, singer songwriter bars, cowboy boots and class colors, and then in the West where I’m from, it’s flat, kind of swampy, blues music, jazz, less pristine, neon lights and brooding colors.”
