“Illinois is the Prairie State, so prairie grasses, farmland, big sky, tornadoes and thunderstorms, where the sky is purple/green like a bruise, plus lightening. City of Chicago has skyscrapers and rivers big and small. Lake Michigan is magnificent. Southern Illinois is like a different world from the north. We have driven through on family road trips a couple times and it’s amazing how long you can drive without seeing anything but corn. Kind of zen while driving because the individuals stalks all blend into this endless horizon.”
