“Rocky mountains, deep river canyons and dense evergreen forests. In the southern half, you get wind-swept prairie of tall grasses and sagebrush. Yellow ochre, sienna and burnt umber are the colors of the south except for the irrigation green of the largest potato farming in the US (my family had a farm on the Snake River canyon, but we grew beans!). Volcanic lava fields are scattered throughout the plateau to punctuate the eroded buttes where wind and water have left their marks.”
Acrylic, soft pastel and pencil on paper, 5″ x 6″, 2020.
